From February 1994 to August 2000 the Economic Court of the CIS considered 65 cases and passed 72 decisions (54 advisory opinions interpreting international agreements and other acts of the Commonwealth; 9 – arising from the non-performance of the member-states of their economic obligations; 2 – labor disputes). Many cases were concerned with social and economic rights of citizens. The subject matter of the advisory opinions was the interpretation of the agreements and treaties regulating economic rights and their enforcement (17 cases), economic disputes (16 cases); interpretation of founding documents (3 cases); principles of international law and their application in the Commonwealth (3 cases); interpretation of agreements related to duties/fees and enforcement of judicial decisions (4 cases); labor relations between officers and institutions of the Commonwealth (2 cases) (source: http://sudsng.org/about/ last visited Jan04/06). Between 1997-1998 the Economic Court considered a number of cases interpreting the agreements of the Customs Union and free trade zone by the governments of the member-states. The Economic Court also considered a number of cases related to interpretation of the agreements and treaties arising out of recognition of the rights in respect of the property of the former Soviet Union as well as regulation of foreign investments (source: http://www.cis.solo.by/org/base/org_base_007.shtml from Google Cache, page retrieved Nov26/04).
